2007 ReportAnnual Meeting: The 2007 MIRS meeting, held September 29-30 at Big Cedar Lodge, was a successful gathering of more than 100 physicians, nurses, and technologists representing the states of Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, and Missouri. The speakers were excellent again; Dr. Raabe gave a very enlightening talk on the EKOS catheter that hopefully was useful to us weekend call docs. Dr. Haskal also gave us some ideas on AV access. Extracurricular: Several participants arrived a day early to take advantage of the superb golf courses and trout fishing in the area. The rainbows and browns were doing well at Dogwood Canyon this year. The golf scramble at the Jack Nicklaus Signature course was again cancelled secondary to renovations. Hopefully it will be open this fall for play!
2007 Meeting Agenda Election of Officers
BusinessThings were pretty much under control this year. Dr. Tom White did an excellent job at the helm and MIRS is financially strong with over thirty thousand dollars in the bank. The sponsors were again excellent in supporting the meeting. A special thanks to Craig Weeks for arranging the Continuing Education for the techonologists and the nurses, and Shawn Fecher and Nicole Alpe of Bard for the Friday night dinner at Big Cedar for the speakers and invited guests. Dr. Johnson presented Dr. White a plaque for his hard work as president of MIRS for a second time. Unfortunately, Rick Litner retired as coordinator of MIRS after a long run. He will be greatly missed. Dr. Johnson enlisted John Lieblong, CEO for Associated Radiologists, to help him for the next year in Rick's absence. Randy Benham of Baptist of Little Rock will take over the job the following year. The film session again was a success with Dr. Culp giving some good tips. Also, there was a big discussion about the future of radiology at the training level. |
