C-1: Arteriography via Axillary Artery Puncture
  • Routine Post-Arteriography Orders
    1. Patient S/P (name of procedure).
    2. Resume previous medication and diet orders
    3. Encourage PO fluids unless contraindicated
    4. Bed rest x 24 hr. BRP with assistance
    5. Check and record vital signs (BP, HR, Respiratory Rate), _____arm puncture site(s) for bleeding, hematoma, and check distal pulses (radial and ulnar)
      • q 15-min x 2, then
      • q 30-min x 4, then
      • q 1-hr. x 4, then
      • q 4-hr
    6. Keep ______arm in sling and passively at rest for ______hr
    7. Check affected arm for sensation, motion and temperature of fingers and record other parameters listed in #5 (above)
    8. Notify H/O if any changes occur
    9. If bleeding occurs or a hematoma develops, compress puncture sire, notify H/O and Section of Vascular and Interventional Radiology or Vascular/Interventional Radiologist on call
